I double-majored in Graphic Design and Life Drawing for undergrad in Michigan. Moved out to San Francisco to find some bigger opportunities and hone my skills at the Academy of Art where I received my graduate degree in Graphic Design. Since then I’ve worked at advertising agencies, big corporate companies and small design studios.
I balance my day job with personal creative work even if it’s only for a few minutes a day. I’m currently doing a 100 day project in which I make a new playlist everyday with designed cover art called #100DaysofPlaylists. I’m also a typography nut and am enrolled in a type design program. I’m doing this with the hope to mix my design and photo art direction background with my own hand made typefaces.
My creative approach—is to observe before making any judgements or assumptions. It’s better to understand the problems before trying to tackle them. “Measure twice, cut once” is what my grandpa would always say so I try to keep that in mind when I’m working on any new projects. Once I have a clear understanding of what is needed finding the right solution is the easy part.
